Top 10 Wedding Gown Trends of 2017 {in Kentucky}
If you are perusing our website/blog then we are going to assume that you are a bride-to-be, or that you just love weddings; but either way we are sure you are interested in what is currently "in", in the wedding gown fashion arena right now. We have seen countless blogs and articles on TheKnot.com and Brides.com telling you what is strutting down the runway in NYC and Paris right now, but what about what is #trending in our beloved Bluegrass State? So here is our top 10 Wedding Gown Trends for Spring 2017 {in Kentucky}.
Plus 1 bonus trend I bet you can guess by the end of this post!
1. Long Sleeves
There is no secret that a long sleeve wedding gown is everything right now. We are sure you may even have a few pinned to your "Happily Ever After" pinboard. We have ladies in the shop every single day asking for this look and for good reason, it is oh-so romantic. It isn't overdone and that long sleeve gives a winter or fall wedding the perfect touch. We can totally see this Lillian West gown at a cool October evening wedding with the trees turning orange and the rolling Kentucky hills.
2. High Necks.
Trending in Kentucky right now is the High Neckline. Anything that skims the clavicles is perfection. Completely sheer, or covered in lace. We love this look for someone that may want a little extra coverage or someone that has a longer decolletage. This Ti Adora gown is light and airy and would be the perfect addition to a Kentucky Barn Wedding.
3. Plunging Necklines
Ok, so we know we literally just said High Necklines were all the rage right now but, a very tasteful neckline plunge is on a lot of our brides lists. Just a hint of cleavage {or a lot depending what you prefer} is stunning on most of our brides. It brings the eye up to your face and gives you a very elegant look. We think this Blush by Hayley Paige gown just screams classy lady and aren't all Kentucky Brides the classiest?
4. Nude
We are loving the Nude trend. Touches of nude in the bodice and neckline give the illusion that you are being a little more daring than you usually are without exposing too much {again, keeping it super classy}. This Lillian West gown pairs the nude with the long sleeve and the combination is stunning! A little sexy + A little conservative = Kentucky Southern Belle.
5. Crape
This is the most resent trend we have been seeing for 2017. You Kentucky ladies have been loving your Crape or plain Chiffon fitted skirts. We love them too! So sleek and very modern. Touches of lace keep this style soft and most of the Crape gowns we have seen you pin on Pinterest have had that beautiful touch of lace. Lis Simon designed this beauty here with a cotton lace that we are just loving. This sophisticated look lets the bride shine {which is how it should be}. Perfect for the city bride but very appropriated out doors as well. This might be one of our favorite Kentucky Bride trends of 2017...
6. Glitter
Yes we said Glitter, NOT Bling. You Kentucky ladies have been drawn to a slight glitter instead of a full on sparkle and we are LOVING this trend! It is so beautiful but doesn't take away from the brides natural beauty! Hayley Paige is rocking the glitter this year as always and this gown is no exception {neither is her sister gown West}. Glitter on ladies! Glitter on!
P.S. Please excuse the picture. I had to get up close and personal so you could see this shine!
7. Illusion Lace Backs
We could have titled this one as "Beautiful Back" but we wanted to be specific on the Illusion Lace Back. For years were were getting requests for Key Hole backs, then daringly low backs, but now we get Illusion back and you may not know it when you are telling us you want a "beautiful back" detail, that you are really asking for something like this. Almost every time we look for a "beautiful back" for someone and the Illusion Lace Back is the Win, Place, and Show {see what I did there? lol}! This Lillian West beauty has it all!
8. Flounce
So this trend has been around for a long time. Ruffled bottoms or flouncy skirts have been asked for consistently for years and now the Kentucky bride is looking for this detail in softer fabrics, interesting ways, and fuller skirts! Gone are the days of a Fit and Flair bodices with tons of ruffles in the skirt. Now this type of flounce below is center stage for the bride that wants this look, and no one does it better than Miss Hayley Paige. She has the horsehair trim flounce down pat! And even though this dress looks like perfection on the beach, the Kentucky bride is wearing it in locations like The Parklands, Whitehall, Saxony Farms, and at any Bourbon Distillery that will host a wedding!!
9.Boho
Right now Boho rules in Kentucky. Our brides are asking for comfortable, flowy gowns with touches of lace, and tulle with that boho feel.. Again, this is the perfect look for a Kentucky Barn wedding, or in a field of Blue Grass. We love the boho vibes {it is kind of what we are known for at our shop}, and no one really does Boho better than Ti Adora. Pair this with a crown of greenery and you are set to say I Do!
10. Crops
What??? Yes, ma'am! Crops with full tulle skirts are everything that Kentucky brides didn't know they wanted! Seriously! This romantic look is part Southern Belle, part Boho Country Girl, part conservative, and a dash of sexy. Everything a good Bluegrass Bride is. And don't for a moment think you can't pull this off! The high waist skirt paired with the lower waist crop only shows a hint of skin at the midriff. The designers with Lillian West were thinking of our Kentucky ladies when they thought this one up!
Bonus Trend...
The Kentucky bride's MOST requested style trend is.... Can you guess? What do all but one of these gowns have in common? If you said straps or sleeves you are RIGHT!!!! We have over 60 gowns in the shop that have some sort of strap or sleeve! Y'all after YEARS of strapless gowns that is AMAZING! This Jasmine Collection gown below show some perfect strap vibes!
